Monkey pox: FG denies having hand in its spread across Eastern Region

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has denied claims that the episode of Monkey Pox in a few sections of the nation came about because of the affirmed free therapeutic care by the government in the influenced territories. 

As per him, the reports connecting the malady to the free medicare of government was phony, and unwarranted. 

In an announcement issued in Abuja on Sunday by Segun Adeyemi, his Media Aide, the Minister encouraged Nigerians to dismiss the report which, as indicated by him, was being spread by some corrupt people to fit into an evil motivation. 

"The Federal Government has not directed any free therapeutic administration or care in either Bayelsa or Rivers state, as asserted in the phony report being circled. 

"Thus, that couldn't have been the reason for the episode of Monkey Pox in the two states. 

"Monkey Pox is an infection discovered just in monkeys and it is uncommon in individuals. It has a place with an indistinguishable family from Chicken Pox and Smallpox. 

"It is suspected that somebody may have reached it by eating monkey meat, accordingly setting off the present flare-up," the Minister said.
