Man, 50, allegedly rapes neighbour’s 3-yr-old daughter to death in Katsina

A 50-year-old man, Sani, has been docked before a Katsina Senior Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping his neighbour’s three-year-old daughter to death. Sani, a father of seven and resident of Jabiri Quarters, Funtua, was alleged to have committed the offence on October 12, when he lured the little girl into an uncompleted building and raped her. He was docked before the court yesterday.

Sani is now facing rape and culpable homicide charges, which the Police said are in accordance with Section 283 and 221 of Penal Code Law. According to the First Information Report, FIR, read by the Police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, “Abdullahi Sani , age 50, called the victim, who was three years old and of the same address, and took her to an uncompleted building, covered her mouth and raped her. In the process, she died instantly.”

The court further heard that Sani and the victim’s father, Ibrahim Abdullahi, who reported the incident to the Police, are residing in the same house at Jabiri Quarters, Funtua. The Police prosecutor said investigation on the case was ongoing and requested that the case be adjourned to another date. Senior Magistrate Abdulkadiri Umar directed that Sani be remanded in prison custody till December 18, when the case is to come up for mention before Senior Magistrate Falile Dikko.
